Unmoored

1

As long as you’re sailing in a little pond, you’re safe. You have borders, you have protectors.

But one day you’re going to sail independently on the endless space of the ocean, all alone.

You might just lose your anchor. You might become unmoored and find yourself spinning wildly out of control.  Free from every safety line, your world is ending. The edge of the world is approaching.

But there are other anchors. You can find a new one. You can drop a new one over the side. Someone might just let you share theirs.

Even at the edge of the world I will fight. If it’s cheating to get a new anchor, then I will cheat at the edge of the world. Even when I’m being swept over the edge I will look for that plan or that last scrap of hope.

Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.
