Laughter and books make life a little easier

Books and ebooks: a chart

I thought a chart of all the arguments surrounding the books vs ebooks debate might come in handy.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7

If you are a really long time reader of my blog you might remember that I used to have a pledge in the sidebar – a pledge to read the printed word. It’s been gone for a long time now. I took it down shortly after I started reading ebooks – more than two years ago now – and I realised how ridiculous this entire argument really is. There is no right or wrong here. There is only personal preference.

There isn’t even really a comparison. My math teachers always used to remind me that you cannot compare apples and bananas. Why they loved to bring fruit metaphors into math remains a mystery, but the message still holds. To read an ebook is a completely different experience from reading a physical book. You don’t have to pick a side or defend your personal preference. Just read, whatever you like, using whatever method you prefer.
