A Simple Origami Box

Hey all!

I just quickly wanted to share with you that I wrote up a new origami tutorial earlier today. You can go view it over at my origami blog: How to Fold a Simple Origami Box. Just click on the picture to be taken straight to it!

Go learn how to fold one and then use it as a gift box for your special someone on Valentine’s Day! Go on! You know you want to… πŸ˜‰

Also in that post, I show off my own smallest origami crane, after being challenged by a commenter in relation to my previous tutorial. It’s small enough to sit on my fingertip!

Oh, by the way, before I sign off, I received one of the funniest spam comments that I’ve seen to date recently. Some of these things are funny simply because of the odd language they sometimes use, but this one was funny because of the irony. Placed only to promote its link:

I was curious if you ever considered changing the structure of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

The post that this was left on? The Idiocy of the English Language, which you have all probably read by now, you know, Freshly Pressed and all that. I found it hilarious because of the unintentional irony – that post basically consists of pictures! I’m counting 8 pictures and about 3 paragraphs’ worth of text. πŸ˜†

Someone should really teach these bots to place their spam in places where it will be less ironic… Now, if this comment had appeared on my last post about writing and music, I might even have taken itΒ seriously…

Still laughing,

*g* Epic failure of a comment is an epic fail! πŸ˜› Or something.

I LOVE the Origami Box. Mine is currently housing all my Origami gifts! πŸ˜‰

(Ps. Also, random comment is random. Want ek het laas eerste plek gehad vir meeste comments op die blog en ek moet my status try hou…yeeees? πŸ™‚ )

    • Yes, rather! πŸ˜†
You are probably needing storage for all those by now! πŸ˜‰
Yep, you lost that status a while back and fell into 3rd during Freshly Pressed. But now you’re back in the lead!

  2. Really nice addition, the Origami! I just might try myself. I also enjoyed the spam! I do get a kick out of checking my spam, and have had similar comments. Can’t get any funnier, or can it?

    • I’m glad you like it! Yes, go on, try it out! It won’t bite… though maybe a papercut… πŸ˜‰

      Yes, it’s hilarious sometimes! πŸ™‚

  4. I used to make origami boxes when I was a kid for my trolls to sleep in. Sort of like matchbox beds! Thanks for sharing.

    • Haha, that’s a good idea! I had some of those troll dolls as well, and I believe I actually used matchboxes as beds for them! πŸ˜‰
      It’s my pleasure! πŸ™‚

  5. Oh yes, I remember these boxes as beds too. We couldn’t afford toy accessories so we found alternative solutions like this.

    • Very clever! πŸ™‚ That’s another reason why I believe all kids should learn at least basic origami when they are little. It could only be advantageous: they get a skill, fine motor coordination (or whatever you call it) and toys. πŸ˜€ I’m sorry that I did not learn it until I was in my teens.
