Laughter and books make life a little easier

It’s my birthday and I’m a Versatile Blogger

… apparently.

(The Versatile Blogger, that is, not my birthday. I know when my birthday is, thank’ee ver’much!)

Anyhow, I’m 20 today! I’m so glad. I’ve been ready to be out of my teens for so long!

Obligatory (slightly blurry, mostly horrible) birthday pic:

Look! I’m wearing my origami earrings! I made and designed them myself and then wrote a how-to on wikiHow to share it with others. You can read it, and see them more clearly here: How to Make Origami Earrings. Oh, and that’s my Eine Kleine Nachtmusik printed T-shirt. I bought it a long while ago in Saltzburg, in Mozart’s birthplace house. Then for years I never wore it, but recently, I wear it just about every week. And I twisted up my très Coco Chanel outfit with flowers. Much less boring, hein? Smile with tongue out

The other news is that the Idiotphotographer has passed on the Versatile Blogger award to me. Thank you very much! It came as a huge surprise, because at first I thought “But I’m not versatile! I just go along!” But then I though that I do post on lots of different topics and styles, so perhaps I am eligible. You can just look at my tag cloud to see the random, diverse stuff I ramble about! Okay… thank you, I accept and I appreciate it very much!

So, now I am apparently supposed to share 7 random things about myself. (Why is it always so hard to think of anything to say when someone says… “So… tell me about yourself.”?)

Here goes:

1.) I’m the only child of parents who had me when they were already middle-aged. No, I’m not spoiled. Well, I don’t think so anyway. My parents did not do nearly as spoiling as many people I knew did to their kids. Being this long-awaited only baby is just more pressure on you to perform. Well… I did get loads more attention and time that most kids who had to share got… Winking smile Wow, this fact turned into a long preach!

2.) My best friend and I share a birthday. I know. It’s weird. Happy birthday, friend! Open-mouthed smile *big hug*

3.) I can and do write with both hands. I’ve never tried at the same time before, though. I mostly write left these days (it just feels more “right” [no pun intended]), but then today was one of my odd days and I wrote my entire three-essay exam right-handed.

4.) I don’t Facebook, and I stubbornly refuse to succumb to it!

5.) I have a huge fear of dogs. It’s almost like a phobia. People are constantly telling me it is silly, but I simply can’t help it. I know it is silly myself, but if I see a dog I go ice-cold all over and I just want to run and hide. The dog doesn’t even need to bark and look aggressive, I go bonkers anyway. Ha! I’m a cat person! Smile with tongue out

6.) I play RuneScape. Yeah, I’m a girl nerd.

7.) I once had to kick a soccer (football to those of you who use weird terms…) ball for PE in school. Well, I aimed and kicked at it, but then tripped over the ball and fell. That was entertaining my class for the rest of the day I can tell you! That’s how clumsy I am. I fall up stairs and down stairs and also over my own feet while standing still…

Now, the passing on of the baton…

Why is this so difficult? Apparently I am supposed to nominate up to 15 people. But I only read about 15 blogs, and… not all of those qualify as versatile in my book. Or they have had this award like several times before… Hmm…

Well, I’ll know what I can do. I’ve seen other people send out a call for nominations, because they simply have not enough people to nominate. So that’s what I’ll do. I’ll nominate those that I want to now, and then if anyone wants to nominate someone else as well, leave it in the comments down below and I’ll consider adding them!

Bethie, over at Hear a Snippet Here. She writes about anything from letters to fiction, and then she still manages to add ramblings on hairstyles and strange quirks. Winking smile Check her stuff out – one day she’ll be a famous author and then you’ll be glad you knew her in her blog days!

The Stressed Out Student over at Stressing Out College. I can always laugh at this blog – probably because all of it sounds so familiar to me. Yep, it’s versatile, ‘cause college is versatile.

Hmm… was that all? I could swear I thought of a third person that I wanted to include here… Well, I’ll update that in as well when I remember… if…

CONGRATS!! *hig* (Excuse the all caps, but rather that than writing it out two times, yes?) 😉 Right. So now to the list of random thoughts the post gave me. Onwards!

I :3 ) One of these days I’ll master the art of leaving a *decent* comment! 😀

Whooops! *faints* I think the post just deleted the WHOLE FREAKIN BOOK I wrote in the middle of the post…

At least, I don’t see it! *wibbles* 😥

      *mutters darkly* 😛

      • Thanks for the birthday wishes! How many times in how many different ways have you told me this now? 😛

Erm… yes, the book is gone. This is why NaNoWriMo is permanently telling you to remember to back up your novel… Sorry, couldn’t resist! 😉

Ah well, your comments are my faves, ’cause I get a guaranteed giggle out of them. That’s the most important bit, right? 😀

  2. First things first…

Most Marvelously Happy and Delightful Birthday!!! (I don’t like using the traditional ‘happy birthday,’ it leaves much to be desired when too often repeated.) And second, I absolutely adore your shirt! Oh. I hope this blog style supports italics, otherwise that will look quite strange. 😛

I would love to share a birthday with my best friend! I have a bunch of younger siblings and I’m the only one who doesn’t share my birth month with a sibling or parent, and my best friend’s birthday is less than a month after mine, but I’d love to share it!

RuneScape! I think I had an account once… my brothers made me get one. 😛 They’re so disappointed in me for not keeping up. And huzzah girl-nerds! 8-D

And thank you ever so much for the award!! Eeep! I smiled greatly at your ‘famous author’ comment. 😉 That’s right, people! Follow me now before the flood of fans attack! Hehehe. I also added the other blogger you featured! I read only two posts and was laughing like a mad woman! Wonderful!

    Have a brilliant Tuesday!

    • Thank you so very much! Hehe, now that’s another thing we have in common. I have the hardest time writing birthday cards, because I don’t think “Congrats, have a wonderful day” cuts it. Just like I don’t like “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” because it has become meaningless by now. I tend to say “Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year” because that actually makes people register that something is different, and it’s not eked. (Spelling…?) 🙂
I’m glad you like my shirt! Yes, the blog supports italics – I use it all the time! Anyway, I would have known what you meant with the HTML if it didn’t work out. 😉

Oh, it’s fun to share a birthday! Though she is a year older than me, so it makes it a little more complicated. 😉 But we get to have a shared celebration… and it makes the other best friend, who commented there above you, complain a bit sometimes… 😀

Girl-nerds for the win! 😀 I don’t play so much RuneScape anymore, actually, for reasons of a NaNoWriMo and too-much-homework-to-live nature. 😉

*crazy giggling commences* I assure you, the pleasure is mine! Sorry, random quote from who knows where! 😀 I had fun writing the comment by your link!
Yep, s/he tends to do that to me too!

I did have a great Tuesday. And Wednesday too! 😛

      November 9, 2011 at 21:19

      • I know, right!? I always say “Happy Christmas” because it’s British and reminds me of heartwarming scenes in Harry Potter. 😛 I often slip into the English accent when I’m saying it, too. Huzzah for italic-supporting-blogs! And for HTML-savvy people! 😀

Hehehe. My best friend is a year and a month younger, but she looks much older. But mostly because I trail behind, letting her do the leading. Plus, I have a baby face. 😛

For serious!! Oh, and I’m totally working on the award post. *tries to think of good excuse for not having done it sooner* Um… well… I worked today! I did, I got up at 6am to get ready. So yeah. Hopefully by tonight!

Oh! I had the perfect image in my head of at least one of the places that quote was from! …then I lost it. 😛 Ah well!

Most excellent. Good thing you did as I said. 😉

        November 10, 2011 at 02:52

      • Yay! Someone who agrees with me on the whole “Happy Christmas”-thing! Finally. 😛
*sigh* The baby face thing… I think it was on your blog that I have complained about this problem before!
Oh, don’t worry, I took over a week to do mine, I think! Ah, work! Always getting in the way of more important things! 😉
That always happens, doesn’t it? 😛

  3. Wow, congrats on the award and thanks for nomination!

Oh my goodness, I can totally relate to your P.E. incident. Was not graced with fantastic coordination…

    You’re blog is great 🙂

    November 9, 2011 at 06:34

    • No problem! 😀 And thank you!

Glad to hear I am not the only one who experienced fails like that! Embarrassing…

      Thanks! 🙂

    • No, sorry, I don’t just randomly email people I’ve never heard from before.
You’re welcome to say anything you might want to tell me here in public, though.

  7. I am so with you on number four! 😀 And number five, too. I can’t even walk all the way down my own street–I always cut through someone’s lawn (don’t worry; I know her and she doesn’t mind) and go around to avoid a house by the end with a couple dogs tied to a tree. Seriously. That’s the only thing that keeps them away from me. I’m always terrified they’ll break loose and eat me!

    May 23, 2012 at 22:56

    • 4. Yay! 😀
      5. I always go sneaking around corners to first make sure all the gates are closed and the scene is safe. A family friend got badly bitten close to where we live recently, and now I’m even more scared. I really hate dogs…

      May 24, 2012 at 19:21

      • I don’t know anyone who got bitten, thank God, but once I saw those dogs (the ones tied to the tree) walking around on the sidewalk across from their lawn, their ropes trailing behind them! It terrifies me!

        May 24, 2012 at 22:41

      • My blog suddenly decided to start throwing your comments in the spam. Don’t worry, I’ve told it off now. 😉 And deleted the extras.
Ah! 😮 I’d be terrified along with you!

        May 27, 2012 at 21:30

      • Thanks! Silly blog.
